Save Energy & Money

Over the next five years, TVA will strive to reduce the growing need for electricity by 1,400 megawatts - approximately the amount of energy to power all the homes in Nashville.  We need your help to use electricity more efficiently.

Consider these money-saving tips:

  • Turn up your thermostat to 78 degrees.  Use ceiling fans to keep cool at the higher temperature setting.
  • Plug your home electronics into power strips and turn off the power strip when equipment is not in use.
  • Enable the sleep mode on your computer or shut it down when you are finished.
  • Keep your drapes and blinds closed during the day on windows that get direct sunlight.
  • Wash only full loads of clothes in cold water and use the air drying setting on your dishwasher.
  • Replace standard light bulbs with efficient compact fluorescents (CFL).

Complete a free home energy audit online.  Following all of the recommendations provided in your customized report could save as much at 20% on your annual utility costs.
