Earth Hour 2009
Congratulations Nashville! With your help, more than 275 businesses and thousands of residents turned off their lights on Saturday, March 28 in honor of Earth Hour. The Sommet Center Plaza was packed with Nashvillians who listened to a free concert by Jo Dee Messina and then watched as Mayor Karl Dean switched off a 9-foot, 200-pound guitar-shaped light switch. Landmarks such as the Shelby Street Bridge, the AT&T tower, the Capitol, NES, and Nashville’s iconic honky-tonks all turned off their lights as planned. Check out this amazing before and after picture of Nashville's skyline.
