NES Prepares for Hurricane KatrinaFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 29, 2005 NASHVILLE, TN- Nashville Electric Service (NES) crews are preparing for Hurricane Katrina as it makes its way towards the Tennessee Valley. NES trucks have been fueled, assessment teams are on alert and tree trimming crews are ready to clear lines when the storm hits. NES spokesperson Teresa Corlew says, "We are planning for the worst. This storm could cause major power outages across Middle Tennessee. People who depend on electricity for medical reasons need to make arrangements now in case their power goes out." Forecasters are calling for damaging winds of 25-35 mph, flooding rains and the potential for isolated tornados. NES' backup disaster recovery site is fully operational and ready to use in the event of serious damage to NES' main building. - end -
