About NES

Who We Are

Welcome to Nashville Electric Service! Serving Middle Tennessee since 1939, NES is dedicated to providing safe and reliable power to the city we call home. Nashville is full of stars, from the music industry to professional sports, but also brightly shining in Music City are business pioneers, brilliant medical researchers and devoted educators. With sometimes as many tourists as residents, NES serves Nashville with an inclusive focus on all customers and all individual needs.
As one of the 11 largest utilities in the nation, NES distributes power to nearly 430,000 customers, including all of Nashville and Davidson County and parts of the six surrounding counties, covering 700 square miles. NES employees are committed to maintaining nearly 5,900 miles of distribution and transmission lines daily.

NES is supplied with electricity by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a public power company that sells electricity on a nonprofit basis to 153 local power companies.

NES is among only four percent of all public utilities in the country to receive the Reliable Public Power Providers Diamond Award, the industry’s highest honor for providing safe and reliable electricity for customers.

Each year, NES continues to grow to accommodate an increasing population in Middle Tennessee. Growth includes infrastructure and technology upgrades to provide customers with the highest level of service. Additionally, NES is committed to listening to customers’ needs. Music City Solar, Nashville’s first community solar park, and Home Uplift were created to offer renewable and energy efficient opportunities.

NES is certified by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Line USA utility for its quality tree care, annual worker training and public education program. NES also partners with the Metro Tree Advisory Committee, the Nashville Tree Foundation and the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council.

The nearly 1,000 employees of Nashville Electric Service take pride in keeping Music City shining. It is our core mission to provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient power to all customers. This is not just a job for us. It is a commitment and at every level of our company, we care. Should you have any reason to get in touch with us, please call us directly at 615-736-6900.
